Introduction to Operations with Two Decimal Places

Introduction to Operations with Two Decimal Places

Curriculum
7AS/MD–1: Understand and apply the mathematical structures underpinning addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of positive and negative integers.
Extends students’ understanding of number by working with a new type of number and challenging assumptions such as ‘addition always makes larger’ or ‘multiplication always makes bigger’. Encourages reasoning with value and magnitude, avoiding over-simplified rules like ‘two negatives make a positive’, and develops fluency through structured examples, estimation, and representation.
